Starting the year with resolutions, renewed perspective, fresh starts, fad diets & an undecorated house seems to be the majority outlook starting January 1st year after year. I have always faltered between “That’s Cliche” and Diving deep into a “New Lifestyle”. This year I feel I’ve been affected more so by the Post-Holidays Blues than before because 1. It brought me so much joy to give to and feed my family. 2. It filled the house with lights, decorations & activity. 3. The holidays were a welcomed distraction from current events. And when it ended this year, I was admittedly sad! So to pick myself up mentally and physically (because let’s be honest- we ATE.SO.MUCH.) The Whole30 is our go-to reset cleanse. Currently on Day 4 today and feeling good! You can say I’m embracing the “Diving Deep” side of things starting this year. A Cleanse of 2020 filled with hope that things will improve this year. ✨
On a major food note- for those who are not familiar with The Whole30, it is a restrictive cleanse of no dairy, no grains or legumes, no alcohol, no sugar, and focused on clean, real food & habit breaking. AKA NO FUN. Just Kidding!! Haha But I’ll tell you, IT’S NO WALK IN THE PARK! Every time I have done this though, I feel SO good. The Pro’s highly outweigh the cons and it is also nice to carry over my “whole30 habits” into my post cleanse routine. For example, instead of indulging in alllllll of my delicious, creamy holiday flavored lattes, I have been drinking more black coffee and lots of tea (which I LOVE tea, but when there’s a peppermint mocha in front of me...green tea what?! Pass.) So the Whole30 just kind of reins it all back in for me, personally.
I have been busy food prepping some of our favorite staples like Whole Roasted Chicken, Butternut Squash, “Charred” Broccoli, Pickled Vegetables, Caramelized Onions, “Weekend Poatoes” (aka home fries), and SALAD. Lots of mixed greens and Vegetables.
So stay tuned! I’m going to share these super simple, easy recipes! You definitely don’t have to be on the Whole30 to enjoy tasty good-for-you real food!
Are you implementing any new changes to yourself and/or way you’re eating and cooking? Please share!!
Wishing you all a healthy & safe New Year!
